TOPICAL ISSUES OF IT-COMPANIES IN THE FIELD OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Abstract

Any modern company uses information technologies in its activities. The demand for them is consistently high, characterized by dynamism. Companies that develop software for customers have their own characteristics, which are determined by the nature of the subject of activity itself, namely the IT-product. Based on the authors' experience, the article considers a number of issues related to the organization of the activities of IT-companies, in which each order is an independent project. Typical shortcomings of the organizational structures of the company's management during project implementation are revealed. This is mainly characterized by disunity and poor coordination of the activities of structural units and affects the quality of services provided and their effectiveness. The advantages and disadvantages of the cascade model, often used in the practice of firms in the field of information technology, are determined; the content of the main stages of the life cycle of an IT-product is considered; the modern software products used in IT-companies for the organization of in-house formal communications are analyzed. The main problems of companies' activities in the development of projects in the field of information technology, which negatively affect the effectiveness of their functioning, are formulated; the authors' opinion is expressed on leveling problems in terms of the composition of software products used by the company in its activities, as well as in the field of organizational and managerial decisions.
