Abstract

The ancient eolian landscapes of the outwash terrain are currently one of the least anthropogenically altered natural Vyatka-Kama Pre-Urals geosystems located within the ecological framework of the territory. They have considerable facies diversity, which is defined by complex ancient eolian mesorelief on the one hand and by different thickness of sandy alluvium on the other hand. At the same time, the systematic study of these landscapes which are common in the region has begun in recent years only. The article is devoted to comparative analysis of the morphological structure of the ancient eolian landscapes within the two specially protected natural areas in the lower Vyatka basin (natural monuments Belayevsky Bor and Medvedsky Bor). The article gives the data on the composition and spatial organization of these pinery landscapes. The data were obtained by using both traditional methods of an integrated geographical research and new methods including GIS, GPS/GLONASS positioning and mathematical-statistical processing of the landscape maps of the key areas. The authors have identified the common features of the ancient eolian landscapes typical for the entire study area and found peculiarities which depend on the local geological and geomorphological conditions. The authors have attempted to explain the qualitative and quantitative regularities of the structure of the ancient eolian landscapes in the region. It is established that the structure ancient eolian landscapes of the region includes a dominant dunes and subdominant depression. Dunes, unlike depression, have complex facial composition, the differences of whose elements are smooth thanks to the powerful sandy substrate. The article shows and explains an enhanced contrast ratio of a soil-vegetative cover of the dune-depression landscapes of Belayevsky Bor compared to Medvedsky Bor. In addition, Belayevsky Bor quantified lower the complexity of the landscape with higher diversity. The assumption is made on the contribution of the "average" values of power ancient alluvium sands in the formation of the highest landscape diversity ancient eolian landscapes of the outwash terrain of the region.
