THE TOURISM INDUSTRY OF TRANSBAIKAL KRAI IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL ECONOMY

Abstract

In this article, the author considers the current tourism industry of the Transbaikal territory as part of the region’s economic system and identifies some features of public-private partnership in the development of the regional economy. The author reveals the role and importance of tourism sector in the development of the region. The main focus is on the indicators that characterize the development of the industry in the region. Statistical data of modern tourism industry in Transbaikal krai, People’s Republic of China, provinces Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang are analyzed. Based on the findings, the author presents a number of conclusions as the socio-economic crisis affected the development of tourism in the region. The key problems of the tourist market at the regional level are considered. The need to study the levels of interest of all market participants is emphasized. The author makes valid conclusions about the directions, options for cooperation between the state and business structures. One of the most functional options for implementing complex projects of public-private partnership is the creation of a special economic zone of a tourist-recreational type. The author proposes functional blocks for regional programs of tourism development. Based on the study, conclusions were drawn on the key areas of the tourist industry development in the Transbaikal region: the most popular are ecological and medical tourism, which, in turn, have a huge resource base.
