Abstract

Modern conditions and regulatory legal requirements of penitentiary practice, in particular, the Concept of the Development of the Penal System until 2020, determine the need for a targeted approach to the organization of psychological work with convicts of various categories. This requirement applies to persons convicted of terrorist and extremist activities. The main difficulty in organizing psychological work with this category of convicts is its multinationality. There is an estrangement and closure of a number of subethnic groups in relation to the total mass of convicts. More and more, the so-called language barrier manifests itself in the desire to abandon the Russian language as a means of communication, which also exacerbates the difficulties of conducting psychological work with convicts. The factors listed above make special demands on the penitentiary psychologist and his/her personality when carrying out psychodiagnostic and psychocorrectional work with convicts for terrorist and extremist activities. These requirements lie outside the basic professional and service requirements for a psychologist, which will be discussed in the article.
