KALMYKIA ON THE EVE OF THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR: THE PHENOMENON OF CONSOLIDATION OF POPULATION
Abstract
The phenomenon of consolidation of the population before the war did not receive comprehensive coverage in the regional historiography. This paper is dedicated to the consolidated factors which combined people of Kalmykia on the eve of the war. There are different objective conditions forming these factors: forced construction of socialism, busy work of the people. Essential help of the state promoted the rapid growth of progress in socio-economic, cultural, political and social development of Kalmykia. The population of the republic, without questioning the legitimacy of the Soviet government, perceiving positive achievements in building a new life with enthusiasm, worked hard, participated in public and political life. With the beginning of the Second World War, the people of Kalmykia, as is peculiar to their historical tradition, was full of determination to defend their homeland, their state, freedom and independence.
