Abstract

This paper is a part of a wider research on the analysis of scientific biological text. Objectivity of a scientific description of animal’s activity depends on language means chosen by its author. Anthropocentrism of the language imposes some restrictions on scientific description. Linguistic analysis of the semantic field animal’s action refines on the semantic-syntactic verb classification which was developed in Communicative Grammar of the Russian Language (G.A. Zolotova, N.K. Onipenko, M.Yu. Sidorova). Not only an angent athroponym, but also an agent zoonym should be taken into account. The following verb groups are distinguished: the verbs of a physical action, a social inter-subject action, and a communicative action. There are mental verbs, perception verbs and physiological verbs at the periphery of an actional verb class (these verbs don’t possess all of the features of an action). Specifics of each group and also the differences in action nomination have been explored.
