A SEMIOTICALLY HETEROGENEOUS WORK OF MASS INFORMATION IN THE CONCEPT OF GENERAL PHILOLOGY
Abstract
A semiotically heterogeneous work (a work that combines elements of different semiotic systems) is an object of study by several interrelated disciplines: semiotics, journalism, various areas of philology. This article provides a view on a semiotically heterogeneous work of modern mass communication as an object of philological research within the concept of general philology. The need for a special look at such objects is caused by a combination of elements of different semiotic systems: the text and images. The image is not an optional illustration of information contained in the text, but a full part of a unified semantic whole. The ideas of General Philology as a discipline that studies the functioning of language and communication, including mass information, are important for the development of the concept of studying the semiotically heterogeneous works of contemporary media in general.
