Abstract

The article deals with the linguocultural features of the résumé genre in German and Russian languages found out as a result of statistical analysis of texts. The received results visualize the existence of considerable differences in realization of a basic goal of the résumé genre. This goal is to convince a potential employer of professional skills of an applicant. The results presented in the article describe linguistic means used by applicants to create their positive image. These linguistic means reflect standards of behavior fixed by language traditions in practical situations of employment in each of the cultures. Obviously, these standards are affected by social, economic and historical features of the national society development. Special attention is drawn to the analysis of lexical and grammatical ways of language expression of applicant’s positive self-evaluation by using lexical units with positive connotation. Comparison of the lexical units usage allows to create the image of an “ideal” applicant in the situation of employment in German and Russian cultures.
