Abstract

The state formation in ancient Russia passed largely under the influence of not economic but military-political and cultural factors. Before us - veche communities, pre-class associations without the primitive community. Processes of class-formation during IX - the first third of XIII century have not been successful here. These societies were set up not so much to these processes, but on self-adjustment - homeostasis, which primarily was due to the difficult war and harsh natural conditions. The point of view which is met in historical science and considers the power of the prince and the veche as warring parties does not correspond to reality. Even in XI-XIII centuries and in some places even later, princes in Russia seemed to “dissolve” in their communities, played second fiddle compared with the people.
