THE INFLUENCE OF ETHNIC FACTOR ON THE RESULTS OF PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS (DECEMBER 4, 2011)

Abstract

The article is devoted to the actual problem of using the ethnic factor in election campaigns and its influence on their results. The impact of the ethnic factor on electoral preferences of citizens of the Russian Federation during the parliamentary elections on 4 December 2011 is investigated. The results of elections in different regions as well as electoral preferences of citizens of national republics and regions with predominance of Russians are analyzed. The sources for researching the ethnic factor influence were pre-election propaganda materials of political parties, party policy documents, speeches of politicians, the results of the parliamentary elections on 4 December 2011, and the materials of the All-Russian population census of 2010. The conclusion is made about the definite influence of ethnic factor on the results of parliamentary elections on 4 December 2011, which is connected not only with objective social-economics processes but with the active use of national issues by political forces.
