Abstract

The article explores the features of a modern novel, identifies the components of its internal structure by the example of Sh. Idiatullin’s novel "The Last Time" (2020). The analysis highlights the leading techniques of the fantasy genre, in which mythological and folklore components are structure-forming. The author of the article shows the originality of the picture of the world created by the writer, the use of motifs, keywords, and methods of organizing the image system. The results can be used in the further development of the typology of the novel, in the identification of development trends in the modern literary process; can be introduced as a basis for analysis in the study of the work of a particular author. The main methods are typological, comparative-historical, and comparative.
