Abstract

The article is devoted to the use of words in artistic meaning. Aesthetic connotations arise in the nearest and distant context of the word. The nearest context creates an anomaly and breaks the usual use of the lexeme. Intertext is a kind of broad context. Special meaning is typical for incomprehensible words and phrases. A semantically rich context generates meanings even in absurd words. The latter differ from nonsense words, which are initially conceived by authors as carriers of a non-trivial meaning. Aesthetically significant words usually do not remain within the boundaries of one textual fragment, but develop in accordance with the logic of their artistic meaning. This confirms their viability.
