Abstract

The article analyzes the semantic and structural features of explanatory relations in the Tatar language. In the course of the study, the method of linguistic description and the structural-semantic method were applied. Explanatory communication is not structurally obligatory, it is determined by the communicative needs of the speaker. The peculiarity of explanatory relations lies in the fact that the segment of reality in both components appears to a certain extent as identical. The logical basis of explanatory relations is the idea of identity. Nevertheless, the complete identity of the content of the explained and explaining components is not observed in all constructions. Depending on the communicative needs of the speaker, the semantic content of the explaining part can be either narrower or wider than the content of the part being explained. The explanation serves as a specific means of transmitting information about objective reality: the explanatory part clarifies the content of already available information, contains an additional message, or the information is generalized, narrowed depending on the communicative factor.
