Abstract

The pilgrimage genre is one of the earliest genres of Russian literature - the first work in it was "The pilgrimage of Father Superior Daniel to the Holy Land", dated XII century. At the dawn of the genre, "pilgrimage" was written by pilgrims and therefore had a pronounced religious connotation. In the future, the genre undergoes a number of changes, gradually acquiring a secular character. In fact, a pilgrim turns into a traveler who begins to describe his journey from the very beginning, detailing his own impressions. One of the components of the specifics of the genre of "pilgrimage" - travel, at all stages of its existence is the description of "mine" and "alien" world. Using the example of these categories, it is possible to trace how the structure of the pilgrimage genre changes, what features become inherent in it in the relatively recent past - the XIX century.
