FEATURES OF THE ARTISTIC EMBODIMENT OF THE THEME OF CHILDHOOD IN THE STORY "TYOMA’s CHILDHOOD" BY N.G. GARIN-MIKHAILOVSKY
Abstract
This study examines the features of the artistic embodiment of the theme of childhood in the story "Tyoma’s Childhood" by the Russian writer of the second half of the XIX century N.G. Garin-Mikhailovsky. It is concluded that the main character of the work chosen for analysis is a child, a boy, Tyoma Kartashev. The leading artistic task of the writer was to comprehend the inner world of the child, to reveal the specifics of the child's worldview, mental and spiritual-moral sphere. The image of the family, recreated in the story, is understood as an integral part of the child's world. The natural environment of the hero plays the role of a harmonizing sphere and is associated with the idea of beauty. The story reveals the process of a child's cognition of the world, the formation of his personality, the formation of ideas about himself and people. External circumstances perform the most important function on this path. Mostly N.G. Garin-Mikhailovsky depicts the tragic situation of a child in modern reality. Search for the causes of children's suffering leads the writer to identify the problems of family and school upbringing.
