Abstract

The article focuses on the formation of ethnic identity by linguistic means. The paper specifies the ways the ethnic identity of a personality is contextually constructed in poetry. The linguistic research of the collection of poems “An Oak Forest on the Moon” written in Russian by a bilingual Udmurt poet is undertaken. The discourse analysis of the texts is used to study the cognitive images and perceptions that serve as the means of creation of the cognitive and affective components of ethnic identity.
