Abstract

Young Hungarian researcher Zsombor Bogdan wrote an article on the Bible translated into the Udmurt language. It is one of the first publications on this issue in Hungary. The researcher analyzed the Matthew’s Gospel and surveyed 10 Udmurts to find out how well they know biblical terminology used in the translation. The respondents were unanimous in expressing necessity for increasing the number of Christian books translated into the Udmurt language. Under increasing globalization it is an important and key objective for the Finno-Ugric peoples.
