Abstract

Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was one of the great public figures in the end of 17th and the beginning of the 18th centuries. Russia and languages spoken there were one of his fields of interest. He corresponded with the scientific community for many years and in some of his letters he emphasized on the Cheremis language. Moreover, he wanted to get more information about this language. His thought, disputable questions, language problems mentioned in his letters were quite important that time.
