SCIENTIFIC AND EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES AND EXPERIENCE OF THE STUDY OF INTERETHNIC AND INTERFAITH RELATIONS IN UDMURTIA

Abstract

Regional experience of research activity in the field of interethnic and interfaith relations is systematized in the article; the main problems, relevant tasks, organizational forms and the most important results in the context of the overall development of the historical and ethnological knowledge are showed. Attention was paid to the historical features of the region from the perspective of ethnic and confessional structure as the environment of active interaction of the Finno-Ugric, Slavic and Turkic peoples. The formation of research traditions attributed to the late 1960-s - 1970-s, when the Republic held its first mass ethno-social surveys. A new impetus to the study of ethnic issues was caused by the growth of inter-ethnic tension in the country in conditions of the crisis of the Soviet system. The activity of the leading scientific and educational centers of the Republic is characterized; the role, theme specificity and peculiar forms of work of an educational and academic institutions, and temporary creative groups focused on the study of different aspects of the ethno-confessional processes in the region are showed. The importance and necessity of cooperation between scientific and educational institutions with the government and institutions of civil society are highlighted, especially in the preparation of socially significant research and publishing projects, actions for the preservation of civil peace and accord. The results of research work of scientists of the Republic are reviewed, perspective areas in the study of ethnic and confessional processes are identified
