THE VAUDEVILLE “PROPOSAL” OF A.P. CHEKHOV AND THE CINEMATOGRAPHIC REALIZATION OF IT IN SPAIN

Abstract

The article is devoted to the topic of the reception of A. P Chekhov’s works in the Spanish cinematographic art, which has not been developed in the modern philology. The vaudeville “Proposal” of the Russian playwright and the movie “Petición de mano” of Manuel Aguado are the examples of the peculiarities of comprehension and interpretation of A. P. Chekhov’s works by Spanish directors. The author of the article pays special attention to the transformations of the Russian world’s realities. He also demonstrates and analyzes lexical and syntactic transformations in the speech of the play’s characters. The article has different references to the source of information on foreign languages (Spanish, Russian and Catalan), which Russian readers have not known yet. It allows us to open another point of view on Chekhov’s works and enriches the perception of previously familiar texts.
