FEATURES OF THE PHRASEOLOGICAL CATEGORIZATION OF THE OPPOSITION “FRIEND - FOE” IN THE CHINESE LINGUOCULTURE

Abstract

Scientific research at the start of the XXIst century demonstrates a great importance of the opposition “Friend - Foe” in the context of multicultural studies. The article deals with the issues of categorization of reality through binary oppositions, as well as the main aspects of the analysis of the opposition “Friend - Foe,” presented in modern scientific works. The relevance of the article lies in the need to study the opposition “Friend - Foe” in the context of the growing trends of globalization and multiculturalism, geopolitical events and processes taking place today, which includes the reconstruction of some fragments of linguistic pictures of the world, the specificity of which is largely determined by this opposition. The purpose of the study is to determine the peculiarities of the phraseological categorization of the opposition “Friend - Foe” in the Chinese linguistic culture. In the course of the study we applied the following research methods: a descriptive method, a method of theoretical interpretation of empirical data, the methods of semantic and contextual analysis, the methods of classification and systematization. Representation of the opposition “Friend - Foe” is expressed in categorization, which makes it possible to divide objective reality into “one’s own” and “alien,” as well as to oppose “oneself” to “alien.” In the course of studying the nature of the opposition “Friend - Foe,” four main research approaches were identified, which study the opposition as a binary one, a concept, a mythologeme and a category. The parameter that unites all approaches is the archetypal principle of binarity, which reflects the specifics of the ethnic interpretation of reality. The research material includes more than 200 chengyu, the nature of which is the opposition of “Friend - Foe,” they are taken from text fragments of the works of the Chinese literature belonging to the Chinese language corpora. As a result, the cognitive features FAMILY, MONEY, ETIQUETTE were identified and described.
